Should American colleges be operating campuses in Middle East countries that hang and flog their miscreants?

At one college, the faculty union is upset that criminals were hanging from cranes in front of the site of their school's new campus.

Here's what I think:

The chances of democracy suddenly breaking out in a renewed Arab Spring anytime soon approach zero.  Meanwhile, today AMerica has the unique opportunity to become energy independent.

We need to build that pipeline, Mr. President.

We need to keep fracking.

We need to invest in alternative energy infrastructure, you GOP Congressmen.

We need to stop wringing our hands over Global Warming... not because it ain't real... but because we won't be able to stop it.  So let's focus on what we can do... energy independence.

Then let's leave the Middle East to its own devices, with the exception of a presence in Israel to keep that state free and secure, and a continued effort with Iran to prevent the old Persian Empire from reemerging.

Now there are some of my ideas ideas for a rainy, miserable Monday morning.
