Here's what happens when you launch a crusade with little or no forethought:

It is not taking the Office of Civil Rights of the Department of Education an average of FOUR YEARS (!) to complete a campus sexual assault investigation.

Why? Well, of course the answer is obvious.  The office isn't staffed to handle the tsunami of cases stimulated by President Obama's ill-conceived June 2014 call for an end to sexual assault on college campuses.  And the agency has admitted as much:
Complaints have gone from 20 in 2009 to 123 last year.

This, of course, is but one symptom of the disruptions stimulated by the White House's crusade.  In previous postings I have pointed to data indicating significant increases in lawsuits by both disappointed accusers and disgruntled accused.

In a weird sort of way this reminds me of the invasion of Iraq in 2003.  Assuming a quick victory and quick departure,  the wizards in the Pentagon went in with no after-battle plan.  We saw where that got us.

We ought to be able to expect more from our "leaders" than these ill-conceived, badly planned, and poorly executed crusades.
