Tufts is targeted by SEIU: Wants to represent contingent faculty

Hello all,
Last Friday, the SEIU filed a Petition for an election with the NLRB to represent a unit of all full time, non-tenure track lecturers at  the School of Arts and Sciences at Tufts University. As I mentioned at the conference, we just concluded negotiations with them in the part time lecturers unit at Tufts.  The Boston University election (about 800 adjuncts ) is being held in an NLRB  mail ballot election starting in mid January. Count will be on Feb 4.  Also an SEIU event.   Will keep you posted.
Finally, in late November, the SEIU won three separate NLRB elections for adjunct faculty at Champlain College, St. Michael’s College and Burlington College, three private colleges in Burlington, VT
Best to everyone for a joyous holiday seasons,
            Nick
